🪪 Pet Import
To import a pet, they need to have a valid annual vaccine, rabies vaccine and be microchipped
🖥️ Apply for the Pet Import Permit
Login into Naama with your Iqama and use Nafath to authenticate
Search for the right service, for examples Import Cat Permit, Import Dog etc
Enter pet and owner details, upload scans of their vaccination books, photos of the dogs
Choose method of transport (by Car through causeway, by Flight, by Sea)
Date of transport has to be minimum 2 weeks from the date of applying
📝 Get Clearance from the Animal Health Directorate
Your application usually approves within 2-5 days (or they request some documents to be re-uploaded)
Print Naama approval + photocopy of your passport/CPR + original and copy of the the pet booklets/vaccinations
Take those along with your pet to the Animal Health Directorate in Hamala
Request a confirmation certificate for crossing into Saudi - the charge is BHD10
They will scan the pet microchips, verify details and give you the letter
🚙 Traveling with your Pets
On the Bahrain side the pets do not need to be mentioned
On the Saudi side, after passports during the customs/vehicle search, have the Naama and Animal Health certificates ready
Once the officer notices your pets, they will ask you to take them to the Veteranian Office to scan their microchips
This office is on the far right side, you will have to walk inside the building upstairs and present all documents
Process takes 20-30 minutes, this will be taken back to the customs, stamped and you are good to go!

🚙 Going back to Bahrain
Similar process for paperwork, except that it has to be a pet export document
In addition, Bahrain requires a Rabies Titer test which takes usually 4-6 weeks as results are sent to Europe. Estimate around $200-$300 for the certificate.
In addition, someone in Bahrain will need to pass by the Animal Health Directorate before pets are brought back to approve them.
